Leaf-peepers...yessireeebob, that's what we are..

..well, today anyway.

Cascade Springs..about an hour from where we live.  Nice drive.

Mr. B, Grandma Evelyn, son Jeff and me....{ DIL Rachael was under the weather so she didn't take the chilly, curvy drive..}

The weather was perfect..cool and clean..

 The colors were great..the water looked c.o.l.d!

 There were gnarly trees and wonderful paths..

It was the best day!  Couldn't have been better..well..if it were longer..

..and I had the next month off...

..and chocolate wasn't fattening..but that's another post.

Hope you enjoy this one..

Have a colorful Sunday..

Idris Muhammad - Hard To Face Music

I found an ancient jazz-funk mixtape I had recorded years ago while I was going through a stack of old CD-Rs that had been lying in the shelves for ages. The tape kicks off with Idris Muhammad's massive Hard To Face Music. I remember going crazy for this back in the day and it still does the trick for me.

To me Idris Muhammad is one of the greatest drummers ever. Always executing with his own unique style and top notch quality. I don't know why haven't I listened to classic jazz-funk albums for ages but it's definitely time for a proper CTI marathon this weekend.

Guess what today was...is??

Yep..my 61st..and it was great...and Braxton & Lulu got their treats as well..{but not cake..}

After having a Red Velvet Cake at work..I got home to banners, balloons, birthday cards and presents and lots of love.

Mr. B wanted to take me out to dinner, but I asked for his aMAzIng  grilled cheese sandwiches instead..he uses Gouda and Provolone on fresh sesame bread..can you say YUM-OH?!

{Bless me Weight Watchers, for I have sinned..}

Then, when I checked Facebook, I found out my photo of Kitty Litter Cake from last year's Halloween party won a $50 gift certificate from Anastasia's Attic in Gardner Village, a quaint boutique shopping "town" with all historic houses..lovely.

{And the store is my very fAVoRite in the whole village!!}

Wow..Can anyone be any luckier?  I think not..

Tomorrow {or today if you're reading this on Thursday, is my sister Kathy's birthday as well..although I am still younger..even though she was born the day after me..it was many MANY years before my birth..heeheehee..

So, I made her one of my cloth books..this one is a story of the strong women from our heritage..all Irish and strong..and beautiful.  See?? Can I be any more blessed?

Here's how it turned out...

{This is a print on an antique handkerchief that I printed the month of October (from 1888)  Tennyson calender on..I circled the 7th..}

She called and said it had arrived..and she liked it.  I'm very glad.  And I'm very blessed..

Have a wonderful day on her birthday tomorrow..I know she'd think that was a great gift as well..

Yeah..the old girl still has it..uh huh..

So the other day a great looking guy, salt & pepper hair..great dresser in a cool car..all macho and strong..

..asked me for my name and phone number.

Oh yeah..that's right.

Oh - and he drove to the house on my request..oh yes he did..

..and I do pay him...

And in uniform..yeah baby...

OK, OK it was a police officer.  And he needed my name & number because I was reporting something..

but hey, at my age... attention from a great looking guy {even while Mr. B was in the garage working} is just what a Saturday morning needed.

Oh, the something I was reporting..while walking the pups I found a used syringe..YUCK..with something in the barrel..can you imagine if a child found that?

We live in an older neighborhood and I try to keep an open mind when I see unsavory characters in the 'hood..but this was waaaay too
much.

I picked it up gingerly with my hand wrapped inside a plastic bag and carefully carried it home and called the police.

The officer came to the house, had some sort of bio-hazard thingy in his car and took it away.  Creepy..disgusting and so very scary.

If you walk your neighborhoods, keep a good eye out for the beauty, the leaves and the rocks shaped like hearts.  The bird egg shells and the lovely homes.

 BUT ..also keep an eye out for the unexpected..the dangerous and the  deadly.  it might just be a case of life and death...

Have a good tomorrow and don't go speeding or running any red lights to meet a great hunky-police officer..you might just get one old-poop-crabby guy..

I am a baaaaad blogger..

Wowzer...I haven't visited...or commented..or posted anything good..

Sorry.

Busy, busy.  Nothing big.  Just stuff.  Nothing to worry about.  I'm fine.  Really.  Just a bit distracted.

On a high note, I  have been busy making something for my sister, Kathy.  Her birthday is the 7th and, as is my M.O. {method of operation..who says TV isn't educational?  by the way, should it be Method Of Operation..or M.O.O. ??

 Can you just see someone on "Law & Order" say "well, that's the bad guy's M.O.O.."}..anyway..I'm near the finish line and need that spurt of high-energy to finish in time to get it in the mail.

Photos will follow..

Have a good Monday..and if you're hating it already, you could me like me..I have a dentist appointment BEFORE work....bummer...

Yikes! The time's getting away from me..

OK, so, I have a new area at work..up front in the receptionist's desk. I'm not the receptionist..still have my same title of Customer Service and will still do the same stuff..it's just now I have a window..and a view..and it's closer to the kitchen and bathroom..but I'm up front by myself.

Yeah..me.  Ms. Mouth...Chatty-Colleen..'social butterfly'...Miss Jabber-wokey...

"All alone am I..ever since your good-bye....all alone with just the beat of my heart...{and the ringing of the phones..}."

Hmmm..can't remember who sang that..

Anyway, it kinda threw me off my game..I'll get back to a routine soon.  In the meantime, have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy all the beautiful fall weather..

So, I'll leave you tonight with a couple of my favorites...

These guys are all tucked in for the night...

Did my stretches..

..had my cocoa..

So I will say good-night and sweet, sweet dreams :-)

"Good night and sweet-sweet dreams"

Francis Lai - Number One

Francis Lai is a French composer behind many great film scores such classics as A Man And A Woman and Emmanuelle 2 to name a few. Le Corps De Mon Ennemi is a killer soundtrack to a great movie. The soundtrack is packed with great funk with some nice prog rock flavors in the mix. It also has a deep and soulful masterpiece hidden between the heavy jazz funk cuts. Number One has such an inevitable groove and somehow the tune manages to create a nasty but classy mood at the same time. This would make a perfect intro for a Sunday soul mixtape. Enjoy!
